What is Speech and Language Therapy?
Children with speech and language challenges require specialized support to meet their communication and development needs. Many of us take our ability to communicate for granted, but the ability to speak, hear and be heard is much more vital to our everyday lives than most of us realize. Our Speech-Language Pathologists provide clinical speech and language services to children who needs support in speech, language and cognitive-communication. We offer assessment to our clients in order to identify communication goals, develop recommendations and provide treatment in a wide range of fun, innovative, and evidence-based therapy techniques.
Empowering Steps SLP
We offer SLP-Integrated BI or MT sessions as part of the Empowering Steps program. These are based on the same Motor Scale and Child Development Scale as the regular Empowering Steps BI and MT programs, but with additional input from our Speech and Language Pathologists. Integrated programs are delivered by Empowering Steps therapy staff, but sessions will incorporate specific communucation goals, and clients will have weekly check-ins with the SLP. This program is recommended for children and youth seeking to address speech and language goals in sessions.
Our Speech-Language Pathologists also offer 1:1 service to children in the following areas:
- Screening
- Speech and Language Assessment
- Speech Therapy
- Language Therapy
- Fluency Therapy
- Social Communication Therapy
- Social Groups
- Literacy (Phonemic Awareness)
